A new demonstration video is now available for the Automated Brighton Classification (ABC) Tool, which supports standardized assessment of adverse events following immunization (AEFI) using Brighton Collaboration case definitions.
The ABC Tool, available through the CEPI Safety Intelligence Portal, guides users through structured questionnaires and automatically determines the appropriate level of diagnostic certainty (LOC) based on the information entered. This approach helps support consistent case classification across clinical trials, surveillance systems, and vaccine safety research.
The demonstration video provides an overview of how the tool works and walks through example case assessments, including thrombocytopenia and Guillain–Barré syndrome. These examples illustrate how the tool evaluates the available information and assigns a Brighton level of diagnostic certainty.
In addition to the video, the page includes supplemental materials containing the case details used in the demonstration, as well as instructions for registering for and accessing the tool through the portal.
The ABC Tool is part of the broader Safety Intelligence platform, which brings together data, tools, and resources to support vaccine safety monitoring during epidemics and pandemics.
